Why Generic ChatGPT Scripts Fall Flat
"Write me a YouTube script about productivity" produces content that could have been written about any channel, for any audience, in any tone. The problem isn't ChatGPT — it's the prompt.
The 5-Part Prompt Framework
Every good AI script prompt needs:
1. Audience Definition
Don't say "entrepreneurs." Say "burned-out 9-to-5 employees in their 30s with a side hustle making under $2,000/month."
2. Specific Topic (not general subject)
Don't say "productivity." Say "why their morning routine is killing their focus by noon."
3. Script Type and Length
"8-minute YouTube video script with hook, 3 main points, and a CTA."
4. Tone
"Conversational, slightly irreverent, like a smart friend giving real advice — not a corporate consultant."
5. Structural Requirements
"Start with a hook that creates a curiosity gap. Include a re-hook at the 2-minute mark. End with a subscribe CTA that ties back to the opening."
Before vs. After Prompt Examples
Before:
"Write a YouTube script about investing."
After:
"Write an 8-minute YouTube script for 25–35 year olds who earn $60–80k/year but have never invested. Tone: encouraging but honest, like a slightly older friend who figured this out. Hook: a curiosity gap about why waiting costs more than the market doing badly. Structure: hook (0–30s), re-hook (30s), 3 main points with transitions, CTA to subscribe. No jargon."
Prompts for Specific Script Types
YouTube Hook Only:
"Write 5 hook variations for a YouTube video about [topic] targeting [audience]. Each hook should use a different psychological trigger: curiosity gap, fear of loss, desire, social proof, and controversy."
TikTok Script:
"Write a 45-second TikTok script for [audience] about [topic]. Start with a scroll-stopping first line. Deliver 3 quick points. End with a 'save this' CTA. Conversational tone."
VSL Opening:
"Write the first 90 seconds of a VSL for [product] targeting [audience]. Open with the most emotionally resonant version of their pain. Transition to why previous solutions have failed. Don't mention the product yet."
When to Use Scriva Instead
ChatGPT doesn't know your niche, your brand voice, or what's worked in your analytics. It also doesn't automatically apply proven script structures. Scriva is purpose-built for scripts — format awareness, structure, and brand voice are built into every output.
